Mateusz Gamrot earned a stunning victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC Vegas 31
Polish MMA star Mateusz Gamrot made light work of Jeremy ‘Lil Heathen’ Stephens at UFC Vegas 31.
All Gamrot needed was 65 seconds to dispatch the experienced Stephens. The Pole executed a powerful Kimura submitting Stephens.
With that win, Gamrot took his win tally to 19. He has just one loss in his MMA career. He also earned the Performance of the Night award, for his submission win, walking home with an extra $50,000.
Gamrot was lauded by several MMA fighters notably top-ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns, who claimed that he liked the Pole a lot.
American Top Team teammate and UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal congratulated Gamrot on his success.
When asked by a fan for his thoughts on Gamrot, Masvidal called him a savage, while also bringing up the name and fame of American Top Team.
“He’s a savage and @AmericanTopTeam strikes again #supernecessary.”
American Top Team, founded by Dan Lambert in 2001, is home to some of the best mixed martial artists in the world. Some of the notable names are Amanda Nunes, Tyron Woodley, Thiago Santos, and a lot more.
Is it the end of the road for Jeremy Stephens?
Jeremy Stephens is now winless in his last 6 fights. He has lost 5 of his last 6 fights with one ending in a no-contest.
And, it has been more than 3 years since Stephens tasted success, with his last win coming against Josh Emmett back in February 2018.
With the UFC releasing fighters quite often of late, Stephens might be staring at a worrisome future in the promotion.
