Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman have already fought twice in the last 12 months
It looks like Jorge Masvidal is not done with Kamaru Usman. Despite losing to the welterweight champ twice, ‘Gamebred’ wants to have another go at him.
Masvidal recently took to Twitter to answer fan questions. He answered plenty of them. And one among those was a fighter he would like to take on irrespective of the weight class.
The fan asked: – “If you could fight any current fighter in any weight class who would it be and why?”
Masvidal just replied, “Usman.”
The pair’s rivalry began when Gilbert Burns who was scheduled to face Usman at UFC 251 pulled out due to coronavirus. Masvidal stepped in on extremely short notice.
The fight took place on the 12th of July in 2020. Usman won the fight via. unanimous decision after clearly outgrappling ‘Gamebred.’
9 months later the pair rematched at UFC 261 in April 2021. This time Usman knocked out Masvidal with a ferocious punch, that handed the veteran fighter his first-ever knockout loss in the UFC.
Masvidal, ranked number 7 currently, clearly lost both of his fights against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Unless he makes his way up by producing a long string of victories, he will never get to face Usman again.
Jorge Masvidal weighs in on Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3
Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 which was set to happen on the 24th of July, was postponed to the 9th of October due to COVID-19 outbreak in Fury’s camp.
Masvidal gave his prediction for the highly-anticipated boxing trilogy fight, when asked by a fan. Although, Masvidal said Fury would come up trumps, he claimed that it would be a better fight, compared to the tame 2nd one.
He wrote:
“Fury but gonna be a better fight.”
The fight is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
