The main event at UFC Vegas 44 – Jose Aldo vs Rob Font went the distance
Jose Aldo vs Rob Font in the main event of UFC Vegas 44 saw the legendary Brazilian come up trumps.
Despite being outstruck by Font, Aldo scored 50-45 on two judges’ scorecards. The other judge scored the contest 49-46.
It was Font who began the fight as the aggressor. The 34-year old American brought the heat right after the first round bell sounded. However, Aldo shifted gears soon and knocked Font down in the same round.
Aldo executed a few more knockdowns which were just enough to win him the later rounds
This was ‘The King of Rio’s third successive win in the UFC. He is on course to fight for the bantamweight title once again.
Following the fight, both Aldo and Font were transported to a local hospital and as a result, didn’t attend the presser.
The fight was bloody, with both the fighters suffering nasty injuries above their eyes. In fact, Aldo’s right eye was nearly closed and so was Font’s left.
The news of the fighters being transported to the hospitals was reported by several journalists.
