Diego Sanchez and coach Joshua Fabia parted ways only recently
A lot of drama has been unfolding ever since Diego Sanchez split with his coach Joshua Fabia. After being released by the UFC on the 30th of April this year a lot of bizarre events have unfolded.
From a bizarre training video of Diego Sanchez hung upside down while taking hits from Fabia to both Sanchez and Fabia accusing UFC President Dana White of sexual misconduct, the month has seen it all.
Now that the pair have split, Fabia appeared in an interview with ‘Behind the Scenes with Summer Helene’ and accused Sanchez of throwing away a fight against welterweight fighter Michael Chiesa at UFC 239.
Fabia claimed that the Nevada State Athletic Commission had changed Sanchez’s mind just a few hours before the fight, and hence Sanchez did not even land a single punch in that whole fight.:
“So, this moment happens where the Nevada State Athletic Commission comes in and leans on Diego, and he has to throw a f*cking fight. Now, I have them recorded. You go watch the fight, and it’s the only fight in Diego Sanchez’s history that he never threw a punch.” [via BJPenn.com]
Fabia then, justified his claim:
“Then on top of it, the last time Diego was a “sportsman,” he was a wrestler. So the first thing he comes out and does is goes and takes this guy’s leg. And he never throws a punch. So, you tell me. How come my fighter that’s been training for ten weeks to strike didn’t throw a strike?” [via BJPenn.com]
Despite having a tumultuous relationship all these years, there was never a time when the pair made allegations about each other.
Now that they have split, the allegations have been flowing like a river. Fabia also accused Sanchez of taking to substance abuse over the past few months. Kratom and alcohol were the notable substances named by Fabia.
He told Summer Helene:
“And Diego has been an addict. He hasn’t told anybody for the past five months, I was his sponsor living with him, that I had to live there because he was broke and lost all his money and strung out on Kratom and alcohol and 30 other substances, that he has sexual abuse issues. Well, Fabia has been accused of being a leech and a very vile man. With all said and done, no one really knows who is telling the truth here.
