Fabia opened up on the substance abuse of Diego Sanchez, with Kratom and alcohol being the predominant drugs
It has been a messed up month for Diego Sanchez and his coach Joshua Fabia. Sanchez was released from the UFC on the 30th of April, just ahead of his match against Donald Cerrone.
The main reason for this was Fabia asking for Sanchez’s entire UFC medical records, right from the year 2005.
The UFC investigated this, and upon doing so they learned that Sanchez wouldn’t be able to provide any guarantee regarding his health. And, hence he was released from the promotion in no time.
In the wake of this, a lot of allegations began falling on Fabia. He was accused of being a leech and sucking the life out of Sanchez. A bizarre training video then surfaced showing Sanchez hung upside down, and being hit by Fabia.
Earlier this week, Sanchez announced that he has split from Fabia.
In a recent interview with Summer Helene, following the split, Fabia opened up on his relationship with Sanchez. He gave his side of his story, accusing Sanchez of being a weirdo and a substance abuser.
Fabia initially accused Sanchez of having the air of ‘celebrity arrogance’ around him:
“Diego was definitely a celebrity. He had some celebrity asshole tendencies. He didn’t like tipping, and he did some weird stuff in front of me that you know, threw up some red flags. But over time, just talking to him, it kind of just seemed, like I said, the celebrity stuff.” [via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie]
‘Diego Sanchez the substance abuser’
Fabia just didn’t stop there. He began stacking vices after vices, of his former client. He even claimed that Sanchez had sexual abuse issues.
In another shocking revelation, Fabia mentioned that Diego Sanchez had gone broke since a while and began abusing a truckload of substances, notably Kratom and alcohol.
Fabia said:
“And Diego has been an addict. He hasn’t told anybody for the past five months, I was his sponsor living with him, that I had to live there because he was broke and lost all his money and strung out on Kratom and alcohol and 30 other substances, that he has sexual abuse issues. No, he didn’t say any of that, man, and I’ve been holding up all this. I’ve been doing everything, and everybody’s coming at me.” [via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie]
