The UFC does have a problem with their gloves and many designs have been shared from Conor McGregor and even Trevor Wittman
Conor McGregor seems to be branching out to another business vertical with some special gloves for the UFC.
The Irishman has been successful with his whiskey brand, which he recently sold for a huge sum. McGregor was showing off his latest gloves from the McGregor FAST brand and a fan suggested that the Irishman should push these to the UFC.
The current UFC gloves allow fingers to be straightened and that leads to some disgusting eye pokes, something we have seen in some big fights.
Having curved gloves ensures that is reduced and still allows fighters to latch onto submissions and holds.
ONE already has dealt with that as they have special gloves and MMA coach Trevor Wittman also has his own designs.
However, the UFC has turned a blind eye to all this and continues using their glove designs.
Another fan brought up Wittman and the fact that his designs were great. He added that Wittman doesn’t want the gloves to be exclusive to a promotion but McGregor was not having any of that.
“But Trevor wittman has never fought MMA tho?
“You need guys with real experience.
“Case in point the king of this s***. Me.
“And F*** other organisations.
“I’m with the UFC.”
McGregor even hinted that he might think of his future later on. However, this take on Wittman saw Justin Gaethje come out and defend the coach.
Gaethje has a history of slamming McGregor on social media and in interviews. However, the pair have never met in the Octagon.
The Highlight claimed McGregor was taking credit for someone else’s work and even questioned the quality of his gloves.
McGregor took this seriously and added that he would beat Gaethje and his coach easily at the same time:
Ali Abdelaziz, another to always take a shot at McGregor, didn’t hold back either:
While McGregor continues his quarrels with the rest of the MMA community, he did touch on an important point.
The UFC needs better gloves to keep their stars safe, and suffice to say, McGregor and Wittman have the equipment to make it happen.
