Drew Dober got the better of Alexander Hernandez and impressed Justin Gaethje
New UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje had some great words for Drew Dober.
Dober was in action at UFC on ESPN: Smith vs. Teixeira and faced Alexander Hernandez. The 31-year-old was able to get the better of Hernandez in the second round and won via a TKO.
This was an impressive performance from the Lightweight star as he moved to 23-9 in his MMA career.
However, there was a big reaction from Gaethje too. The American had some great words for Dober and not so much for Hernandez.
Gaethje tweeted: “@DrewDober my man. What a beautiful performance. Exposed the kid for for the faker he was #UFCJAX”
This goes back a while when Hernandez was facing Beneil Dariush. Hernandez seemed to fake a glove touch and then attacked Darlush shortly after.
However, Hernandez explained later that he was trying to gauge distance to his rival, and it wasn’t meant to be a glove touch.
That response split UFC fans across the world and it seems Gaethje still isn’t impressed by Hernandez.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Hernandez though, as he was on a charge and this loss might affect his chances of getting a title shot in a stacked division.
Big match for the undisputed title
Gaethje might not have to worry about Dober or Hernandez for now, but he has bigger concerns. He has to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed Lightweight title, and that is a clash that everyone wants to see.
Gaethje was impressive against Tony Ferguson and dominated El Cucuy. However, Khabib will be a different task. The Russian is unbeaten in his MMA career and has lost just one round in his career so far too.
