Justin Gaethje shared his prediction for the upcoming Tony Ferguson vs Charles Oliveira fight at UFC 256
UFC 256 was saved from being a card that had just one big fight thanks to the work of two men.
Tony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira accepted a short-notice fight and will serve as one of the big clashes on the show.
Two title fights were to take place, however, Kamaru Usman and Amanda Nunes pulled out from their respective bouts.
Ferguson vs Oliveira should be an excellent scrap and would serve as the appetizer to Deiveson Figueiredo defending his Flyweight title against Brandon Moreno.
Justin Gaethje was caught up by The Schmo and gave his prediction for the fight. Gaethje had defeated Ferguson at UFC 249 and this was going to be El Cucuy’s first fight since that loss.
Ferguson is one of the toughest stars in the UFC and Gaethje backed El Cucuy to win:
“I don’t know man. How intriguing. Tony coming back, I was talking about it earlier with some fighters and I think Tony is going to win.
“I think to do what I did against him, you have to do it a certain way and I don’t think Oliveira fights like that.”
While Oliveira isn’t an easy opponent, Gaethje believed that the Brazilian would have problems against Ferguson.
Gaethje believed that Oliveira had the same kind of striking technique as Anthony Pettis and that would be a problem for the Brazilian.
Ferguson had fought Pettis at UFC 229 and ended up winning that bout in 2018. El Cucuy was on an incredible 12-fight win streak when he faced Gaethje at UFC 249.
This was for the Lightweight interim title but Gaethje picked up an easy win and dominated the clash. Ferguson still remains one of the best in the business and it will be interesting to see if he does return to the Octagon with a win.
