Kamaru Usman registered his 14th consecutive win in the UFC as he closed in on Anderson Silva’s all-time record of 16 wins.
Usman was hardly troubled en route to his knockout victory over Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 261. The Nigerian Nightmare handed Gamebred his first evet knockout defeat in the UFC with a massive straight right hand.
Usman also sent a strong message to the critics and people calling him boring, by showing how good his striking can be as well.
Usman had previously beaten his former teammate and sparring partner Gilbert Burns at UFC 258. On doing so, he went past UFC great Georges St-Pierre’s record for the most consecutive wins in the welterweight division.
And now, Usman has 14 consecutive wins in the UFC as he closing down the record of another UFC great – Anderson Silva. The Brazilian holds the record for the most consecutive wins in the UFC, with 16 wins.
Usman sits second in that elite list, not even Khabib Nurmagomedov or Jon Jones have that many consecutive wins in the UFC. Just a matter of time before Usman is hailed as the greatest fighter of all time.
Colby Covington not impressed with Kamaru Usman’s performance
Usman’s rival Covington was one among the attendees at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena. He is expected to take on Usman soon in a rematch.
However, the Chaos was unimpressed with the Nigerian Nightmare’s performance, tweeting that he looked like trash.
This is what Colby had to say about the UFC 261 main event:
“Marty looked like trash, but it’s not like you have to be any good to beat @GamebredFighter. What’s that now 20 losses? Backstabbing bum.#ufc261”
Well, Covington has already began the trash-talking, but will he emerge victorious the second time around?
