Kamaru Usman beat Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal but doesn’t see them facing off
Kamaru Usman was speaking on MMA Fighting and was asked about the possibility of seeing Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington.
Usman, the current UFC Welterweight Champion, has beaten the pair in his last two outings. The Nigerian Nightmare defends his title against former training partner Gilbert Burns, but opened up on his previous rivals.
“I think that is a fantastic match-up, I would watch that for sure.
“Yeah I disposed both guys but I would still like to see what happens. These guys trained with each other, these guys lived on each other’s couches, these guys shared everything, food, burgers, women, beds.
“It would be interesting to see who the leader of all that was when they shared their moments together.”
However, he didn’t believe that this fight was going to happen:
“I don’t think it is going to happen.”
Usman brought up how difficult it was to fight them as it is, and believed that would prevent this clash from happening:
“I can imagine how hard it is going to be just to get them to fight each other.”
While Usman believes his clash against Burns is his toughest task to date, Covington vs Masvidal is another big fight in the Welterweight division.
Masvidal lost his last fight against Usman while Covington bounced back after a loss to the Nigerian Nightmare.
Covington defeated Tyron Woodley in a brilliant outing and the winner of this clash could get a title shot.
Masvidal and Covington also trained together before Covington went a little weird with his character.
However, there is no doubting his abilities in the Octagon. Masvidal is also one of the biggest names in the division and he too will always sell fights.
This is a great fight to make for the UFC and it is to be seen if the pair accept this or not.
