UFC 261 sees Kamaru Usman take on Jorge Masvidal in a rematch from UFC 251
Kamaru Usman isn’t taking things lightly against Jorge Masvidal as the pair meet for a rematch at UFC 261.
Usman, the Welterweight UFC Champion, is undefeated in his UFC career and beat Masvidal at UFC 251.
However, there was a lot going on before the fight. Masvidal took up the clash on six-days notice since Gilbert Burns contracted Covid-19.
Gamebred got a few hits on Usman but the Nigerian Nightmare kept the belt. He then defeated Burns at UFC 258 and called out Masvidal for a rematch.
However, that fight first seemed to be set up and then discarded by Usman. Now the fight will finally happen and Masvidal believes a full training camp will help him beat Usman.
Usman, for his part, wants to achieve something he was unable to do against Masvidal in their previous outing.
Masvidal vs Usman 1 went the entire five rounds but it was the champion that got a unanimous decision win.
This time, he is aiming for a finish and even posted a hilarious captioned photo of Masvidal:
“Enough Said. Only this it’s a finish”
There is no denying how big Masvidal is for the UFC fans. Gamebred is one of the most popular figures in the MMA world but he is yet to win a UFC title.
Masvidal was no match for Usman in their previous meeting but a full training camp could be see something special from Gamebred.
However, Usman is possibly one of the best MMA stars presently. He is undefeated in his UFC career and has dominated most of his rivals.
Even Georges St-Pierre conceded that Usman is one of the greatest ever and it will be interesting to see how UFC 261 goes.
Masvidal could make history by handing Usman his first UFC loss. On the flip side, Usman can move closer to immortality by vanquishing the demon of Masvidal and getting a finish too.
