Kamaru Usman hailed himself as the BMF champion of the world, and said that he will relinquish the title for UFC 272 main event

The grudge match between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal has got the world talking, and the fight has broken into mainstream media and pop culture now. The storyline also amused welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, who hold two victories over both the fighters.

Kamaru Usman sits comfortably over the welterweight pile, having defended his belt five times now. Jorge Masvidal had won the fancy ‘BMF‘ belt by beating Nate Diaz at UFC 244. Usman who fought Masvidal at UFC 261 for the second time, surprised the world when he stupefied ‘Gamebred’ with a stifling straight right hand, that knocked him out cold.

Usman reacted to the entertaining UFC 272 press conference, and testified that he will relinquish the ‘BMF’ belt, although it was never part of the bargain at UFC 261.

Usman tweeted, ‘I will relinquish the BMF Belt just for this fight #UFC272

As for Usman, he has targeted a July return to the UFC, after undergoing a hand surgery.
