Kamaru Usman shared how elated he was wrapping his UFC welterweight title around his father’s waist

Usman bulldozed his way past Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 261 to successfully defend his welterweight title for the fourth time.

The Nigerian Nightmare whose striking is extremely underrated struck a massive right hand knocking out Gamebred for the first time in his UFC career. He thereby inched closer to Anderson Silva’s all-time record of 16 consecutive wins in the UFC.

At the post-fight interview there was a sight to behold, as Usman had brought his entire family, including his father Muhammed who had served a jail sentence from 2010-2020.

Usman’s father had never seen his son fight live, and was overcome with emotion once he got on into the octagon.

A proud and dutiful Usman then wrapped his welterweight belt around the waist of his emotionally moved father, even as his mother and the rest of the family looked on.

The Nigerian Nightmare recently shared an image of himself wrapping his belt around his father, while also revealing how he felt at that moment.

Usman captioned his post:

Usman is now staring at a rematch against Colby Covington, sometime this year.

Kamaru Usman believes a fight with Georges St-Pierre more likely to happen than one against Khabib Nurmagomedov

Usman has hardly been rocked in the welterweight division. This has led to discussions of a possible fight with retired UFC greats Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre.

Speaking in an interview with TMZ Sports, Usman said that a fight against Khabib would be the biggest fight in the history of the UFC, but ‘is hypothetical’.

He went on to say that even a fight against the 39-year old GSP was more likely to happen, than the one against the Dagestani.

However, if that ‘hypothetical fight’ ever happens, one of the two will be losing their ‘0’.
