“Wasn’t trying to disrespect”- Nate Diaz responds to Kamaru Usman’s call-out

It is still unclear who Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will fight next

Kamaru Usman hasn’t had any trouble in dispatching fellow welterweight fighters. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is still undefeated in his UFC career, and has already defended his welterweight title 4 times.

With 14 consecutive wins in the welterweight division, only Brazilian legend Anderson Silva sits above him.

Usman, last beat Jorge Masvidal in a rematch at UFC 261, knocking him out brutally. Having cleaned out a majority of top-ranked fighters including the likes of Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns, it is unclear as to who Kamaru Usman will fight next.

In the wake of this, fellow welterweight Nate Diaz took a dig at Usman claiming that the welterweight champion only fights someone he already knocked out.

“Who dis guy fighting next ? Someone he already koed.”

Usman responded by tweeting that Diaz could call Hunter Campbell (Chief Business Officer at UFC) to make the fight happen. 209 is Diaz’s Stockton postal code (95209). 187 refers to murder (police code).

“I see you 209. If you really want this 187 then call your boy Hunter.”

Diaz then asked Usman to finish off his ongoing feud with Covington.

He wrote:

“Ur locked down you do what ur told to do like a good champion.”

Usman didn’t stop there, he claimed that he was ready to fight Diaz if he wanted to.

“Key word “CHAMPION” lol. All you guys just internet tough guys nowadays. Like I said if you really want this pressure then holla at your boy Hunter.”

Diaz responded tweeting (with a sarcastic undertone):

“Your doing great champ I wasn’t trying to disrespect Have a good fight with one of those poor guys you beat up.”

Who will Nate Diaz fight next?

Diaz was in his element against Edwards at UFC 263. Despite being badly beaten by Edwards for the majority of the fight, he almost turned the fight on its head in a single minute.

Ageing welterweight veteran Demian Maia called out Diaz to be his opponent for his last UFC fight. Although Diaz hasn’t responded to Maia’s tweet, the fight does seem to make sense.

‘The Stockton Slugger’ could possibly drop down to the lightweight division and face Conor McGregor in a trilogy fight, if the Irishman fails to beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
