Vicente Luque defeated Michael Chiesa at UFC 265 and wasted no time in calling out the champion, Kamaru Usman

UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman didn’t wait to respond to a call out from Vicente Luque.

The Silent Assassin was in action against the impressive Michael Chiesa at UFC 265 and the Brazilian got a great win.

It didn’t seem to be going Luque’s way initially. After a few hits from both parties, it was Chiesa who was looking to get a patented read-naked choke locked in.

The American did have it locked but Luque was able to sensationally transition out of it. Luque then turned the tables on Chiesa and put in his own D’arce choke.

Many UFC stars were impressed by this transition and Luque now seems to be a real contender for the title.

He was quick to call out Usman, his friend, and the champion also responded to this.

“You looked great my man we might be dancing soon”

Who is the next fight for Kamaru Usman?

Usman might have to wait a bit before getting Luque. Firstly, the Nigerian Nightmare has a rematch with Colby Covington which is set for UFC 268.

It was Usman who defeated Covington at UFC 245 and the champion has only impressed with each fight after that.

He has 19 wins and only one loss in his career, which came before his time in the UFC. Usman has defeated Jorge Masvidal (twice) and Gilbert Burns after the Covington win and also has impressive wins over Tyron Woodley, Rafael dos Anjos and Demian Maia.

Luque, for his part, is on a four-fight win streak and has a record of 21 wins, seven losses and one draw.

Luque also needs a few more wins under his belt before getting a title shot, but this was an impressive performance and it will be interesting to see who his next opponent is.
