“8 zeroes in front of the check” – Kamaru Usman opens up on fighting YouTube star Jake Paul

Jake Paul and Kamaru Usman have been been trading verbal bombs for quite a while

Paul’s victory against Ben Askren on the 17th of April, gave him a massive boost in his quest for challenging popular athletes and fighters. It was the first time he had won a boxing fight against a combat sports athlete, thereby going 3-0 up in his professional boxing career.

But, ‘The Problem Child’ went very much overboard with his callouts. He began disrespecting elite fighters, especially from the UFC.

One among them was UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. Despite Usman dismissing Paul’s callouts continuously, there was no sign of stopping from the YouTuber.

He even dragged Usman’s daughter into the conversation, when Usman accused him of being just a ‘Disney Star’ and not a real fighter.

In a recent interview with Mauricio Pedroza of Ahora o Nunca, Usman was asked if he would ever fight YouTubers like Jake Paul.

Surprisingly, the Nigerian Nightmare said that he would if it was an exorbitant paycheck:

Kamaru Usman reveals why he is giving attention to Jake Paul

Unless it is something that has to do with the welterweight division in the UFC, Usman doesn’t pay attention.

But he seemed to give Jake Paul a bit more attention than he usually gives for trivial stuff.

In the same interview, Usman claimed that Paul’s disrespect towards Daniel Cormier at UFC 261 was the main reason why he began taking notice of the YouTuber:

“Once he made the comments that he made about DC…DC is not just one of the most respected guys in the sport, DC is also a good close friend of mine…Once I saw that he made those comments, that’s when I took notice. If I am in a position to teach these guys a lesson, absolutely!”
