Kumaru Usman becomes the best UFC pound for pound fighter after replacing Jon Jones
UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman has dethroned Jon Jones to become the No.1 pound for pound fighter in the UFC. MMA Journalist Aaron Bronsteter shared the update on Twitter where he said:
“Kamaru Usman has supplanted Jon Jones as the top men’s pound for pound fighter in the newly released UFC rankings.”
It seems like an obvious move for the Nigerian as he has already had two title defenses this year. He also has fourteen consecutive victories in the UFC while Jones is yet to fight after 2020. Jones is now down to number two.
However, interestingly UFC’s official website has yet to make the changes in the list. It is reported that the changes will be made shortly and also published on their website soon. Usman will also face one of his toughest challenges Colby Covington again in November this year at the UFC 268.
Jon Jones was recently arrested for the sixth time. Jones was in Las Vegas this past week to attend the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday. The former Light Heavyweight champion wa arrested hours later on Friday morning and taken to Clark County Detention Center.
Jones is charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault, tampering with a vehicle and also felony. UFC president Dana White reacted to this news by saying he wasn’t shocked. White also said that Jones is not capable to handle Vegas properly. For detailed coverage check out: Dana White not surprised as Jon Jones is arrested for domestic battery and also more.
