With the way Kayla Harrison has been performing, she might fight Amanda Nunes soon
Harrison is the next big thing in Women’s MMA right now. The 2012 and 2016 summer Olympics Judo gold medalist, has been poleaxing each and every opponent of hers in MMA.
She made her MMA debut, only in June 2018, and is already 9-0 up in her professional mixed martial arts career. Of the nine fights she has fought 8 in the PFL and 1 in Invicta Fighting Championships.
And, just a couple of days ago Harrison faced Mariana Morais at PFL 3 (2021). All Harrison needed was a minute and a half to finish the Brazilian.
A flurry of punches in a full mount position got the job done for Harrison.
Soon after her victory she was praised by a truckload of fighters and fans, and her name was already being brought up to face the GOAT, Amanda Nunes.
Harrison opened up on this in a recent interview with TMZ Sports. She claimed that it was a privilege to be put in the same conversation with Nunes.
Harrison said:
“That is a huge honour for me…The biggest compliment that I can give to Amanda is to tell her that I do want to fight her someday. Because she is the greatest. She is what I’m chasing. She is a great champion, in the cage, outside of the cage. I respect her so much.”
Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz was more amped-up than ever for Kayla Harrison. Following her victory at PFL 3, he tweeted that he wanted to see Kayla Harrison feature in a crazy tournament featuring 3 other combat sports greats.
The 3 other greats Abdelaziz mentioned were Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg and Claressa Shields – whom Abdelaziz quite disrespectfully mentioned as ‘The Boxer Chick’.
His tweet read:
.”Let’s do women tournament @KaylaH Amanda Nunez cyborg and the boxer chick.”
Well, given the way Harrison is surging, it wouldn’t be a long time before such a tournament happens for real.
