Kelvin Gastelum provided an update on his injury and eventual return
Kelvin Gastelum was scheduled to fight Nassourdine Imavov on the 9th of April, 2022 at UFC 273. Due to visa issues, Imavov pulled out – and in stepped Dricus Du Plessis.
Another twist to the tale saw, Gastelum pull out and the fight eventually being cancelled. The veteran middleweight pulled out due to an undisclosed injury which later came to light that he had injured his knee.
In a recent interview with ‘The Schmo,’ Gastelum provided an update on his recovery. KG stated that he was recovering faster than expected and that he would be back soon.
He was quoted as saying:
“Very much ahead of schedule. I’m actually like wolverine…I’m recovering really really fast and I’m really with the progress that I’ve made. So, expect to see me hopefully in the fall.”
Kelvin Gastelum reveals the ligaments he tore
When questioned further about the ligaments he tore, Gastelum revealed that he had torn his PCL, MCL and meniscus.
He later went on to state that the doctors warned him of acquiring arthritis should he not fix the torn ligaments soon.
