Julianna Pena went to sleep after Germaine de Randamie used a guillotine choke on her
Germaine de Randamie put on quite a show against Julianna Pena in the latest UFC Fight Night event.
While the main event was Holly Holm vs Irene Aldana, the other pair of women put on a great fight too.
It didn’t last long, however, as De Randamie picked up her first win via submission. The 36-year-old Dutch MMA star was 46-0 in her kickboxing career before making the move to the Octagon.
The Dutchwoman came in with a record of 9-4 before this fight and her last fight was also a loss to the legendary Amanda Nunes.
However, age wasn’t a factor for De Randamie as she beat the 31-year-old Pena with a guillotine choke in the third round.

The choke seemed to be latched on tight and the referee called the fight off after checking on Pena. The Venezuelan Vixen was asleep and unconscious as the referee made the decision, and De Randamie celebrated another huge win.
Gastelum concerned about the win
This isn’t the first time someone became unconscious after a guillotine choke. It is one of the most lethal submissions in MMA and De Randamie really locked it in tight.
However, Kelvin Gastelum had his concerns about how the submission took place and how long it took for the referee to make a decision.
The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner highlighted that the choke went on longer than required and that could have been due to a tough position for the referee.
“That guillotine went on a little longer than I would’ve liked but it was hard to see from the camera angle I can imagine for the ref his angle was a bit off too.”

This was a huge win for De Randamie as she plucked off a rising star in Pena. The Dutchwoman might have lost to Nunes recently, but if she keeps winning in the same manner, a rematch against the champion could happen sooner rather than later.
