Kevin Holland accepted a short-notice fight to face Jack Hermansson after Darren Till pulled out
UFC star Kevin Holland is looking to match a modern-era UFC record as he is to fight Jack Hermansson.
Darren Till was to face Hermansson at UFC Fight Night 185, however, the British star pulled out citing an injury.
The UFC found a quick replacement despite the fight being less than a month away. Holland accepted the clash and opened up on facing Hermansson next:
One month notice for a fight….. 🤯
It’s not a joke, we are coming for ‘the joker’ @jackthejokermma on 12/5. @darrentill2 get well soon so we can all figure out who the hell is @PlatinumPerry real daddy. #UFC #callbigmouth pic.twitter.com/VnqfEKOk7x— Kevin Holland (@Trailblaze2top) November 7, 2020
Holland also wished Till the best in his recovery but called out Mike Perry for some disparaging comments he made after the British star pulled out.
Holland already has four wins in the UFC this year and it seems he is ready to try and get a record win in a month’s time.
Chasing UFC glory
The modern era of the UFC sees fighters clash a few times in a year. The days of tournaments and fighting multiple times in a night are gone, at least in the UFC, and that is something that was brought up.
Ariel Helwani brought up the fact that only four other fighters had gone 5-0 or better. Royce Gracie went 8-0 in 1994 while the others who have gone 5-0 are Neil Magny (2014), Roger Huerta (2007) and Mark Coleman (1996).
Others have gone 4-1 but Holland would be looking to avoid that. However, if we are to look at fighters after the modern-era of the UFC, it is only Huerta and Magny who have gone 5-0.
If you wanna just go with “modern UFC,” which is the post-Zuffa non tourney era, Holland would join Huerta and Magny as the only fighters to go 5-0 in a year.

Credit must be given to Holland for accepting the fight on short-notice and Till even wished the pair the best ahead of the event.
It will be interesting to see if Holland does get another win this year. While many stars haven’t’ been able to get fights due to the pandemic, Holland has kept himself busy.
He can go 5-0 in a year, which would be incredible, given that fighters only take up two-three fights in 12 months.
