Kevin Holland has big plans in mind for his next fight
American UFC fighter Kevin Holland revealed what he has in mind for his next fight. The ‘Trailblazer’ recently beat Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 256 in vicious fashion.
The 28-year-old unloaded a flurry of bottom-position punches to knock Jacare out clean and secure his 5th UFC win this year.
The video of his knockout went viral, and understandably so. Holland won the Performance of the Night for his efforts against Jacare, and now has now the most UFC wins in a calendar year with 5.
Holland has taken the promotion by storm in 2020. Since his win against Anthony Hernandez by TKO in May, the 28-year-old has gone on to win 4 more fights.
His wins against Joaquin Buckley, Charlie Ontiveros, and Jacare Souza (all by TKO) were all awarded the Performance of the Night.
The closest he came to losing was to Darren Stewart, when he secured the victory by split-decision. And now, Holland already has plans for who he wants to face in the future.
Kevin Holland wants his next fight to be against Derek Brunson, or even Darren Till
Chael Sonnen, on his podcast, asked Holland who he wants to fight next, and Holland seemed to have the answer to that question at the tip of his tongue.
“In my mind, perfect mind, I think fighting Derek Brunson as he soon as comes back to the Apex.”
He even went to reveal that Derek Brunson messaged him twice. The first time, as Holland says, was when Brunson wanted the Trailblazer’s help in preparing for the Israel Adesanya fight.
Holland turned that down, and later received another message after his win over Anthony Hernandez.
“[He] told me that he would slam me on my head if I tried something like that with him.”
However, Holland clarified that it was probably in a “joking manner”. Sonnen shifted the topic later and suggested that he would like to see the 28-year-old go up against Darren Till.
Holland took the suggestion in his stride and agreed that he too would not mind that fight.
“I [have] seen that. I would love that match-up as well.”
Whether it’s Brunson or Till, whoever the Trailblazer goes up up next would be facing a man who is in form and ready to destroy whoever comes in his way.
