Former UFC lightweight/welterweight Kevin Lee has joined Khabib Nurmagomedov’s MMA promotion – Eagle FC
Just weeks after being released from the UFC, ‘The MoTown Phenom’ Kevin Lee has found a new home. He will now be competing in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle Fighting Championships.
The promotion will be heading to the United States for the first time in January 2022 – for Eagle FC 44. The event which will take place at Miami has a stacked card featuring notable names like Lee, Rashad Evans, Ray Borg, Tyrone Spong and Cody Gibson.
The news of Lee signing with Eagle FC was broken first by Ariel Helwani. Later that day, Khabib announced the same at a press conference in Miami. It had Evans, Spong and Lee gracing the stage.
Lee is set to compete at the 165-lbs division – a new division Eagle FC is planning to launch.
Kevin Lee fought for the Interim Lightweight belt once
Kevin Lee made his UFC debut at UFC 169 on the 1st of February, 2014. Starting off with a unanimous decision loss against Al Iaquinta, Lee quickly bounced back with four successive wins.
At UFC 216 in October 2017, Lee fought for the interim lightweight belt. He took on Tony Ferguson, but was unsuccessful in his attempt. Lee was beaten in the third round via. submission.
Since then, Lee never found his form. Barring a stunning KO win over Gregor Gillespie, Lee’s form went downhill. He was released from the promotion on the 30th of November, 2021.
