‘The Motown Phenom’ Kevin Lee was released on the 30th of November, 2021

Kevin Lee who had been a part of the UFC for almost 8 years was released from the promotion on the 30th of November.

Following his last fight against Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ESPN: Barboza vs Chikadze in August 2021, Lee tested positive for Adderall. He was handed a 6-month suspension for the same.

It later come to light that the drug was not out of his system as quickly as he would have wanted it to be. A case of miscalculation.

It is also believed that it would have been the cause for his release.

Lee made his UFC debut on the 1st of February, 2014 at UFC 169. Starting off with a unanimous decision loss against Al Iaquinta, Lee found his footing pretty quickly after that.

He went on to win the next four fights before being knocked out by Leonardo Santos at UFC 194. A five-fight winning streak followed which led him to an interim title fight.
