Kevin Lee vs. Tony Ferguson 2 target date has been revealed

Kevin Lee says the UFC is pairing him against Tony Ferguson for his first fight since re-signing with the promotion. ‘The ‘Motown Phenom’ announced his switch from lightweight to welterweight in February, claiming he would be faster, stronger, and more explosive at the heavier weight class. Lee targeted Colby Covington as a potential opponent because he was confident he could outwrestle most of the top welterweights, including reigning UFC champion Leon Edwards.

A rematch with ‘El Cucuy’ could happen at UFC 290, the upcoming pay-per-view event at the end of International Fight Week, but it appears the UFC would prefer someone else for Lee. UFC 290 will take place on July 8, 2023, at the T-Mobile Arena facility in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States. Speaking in a recent interview with Helen Yee, Lee stated:

“Right now, it’s looking like we’re going to do Tony. Me and Tony Ferguson, a lot of people are calling for that fight. They want to see the rematch. I feel like it’s going to right a whole bunch of wrongs that kind of happened in 2017 and it’s going to put me right back on the right track.”

“I feel like that’s the fight that people want to see. It’s a great fight for Tony. It’s a great fight for me. I think it’s a great fight for the UFC. We had a great fight the first time. I think people don’t really realize the significance of that fight the first time we had it, so I think it’s only right that we run it back. We’re going to do International Fight Week is what I’m hearing.”

Kevin Lee claims Jon Jones emulated his dressing style at UFC 285 press conference

Kevin Lee, a fighter in the UFC, thinks that Jon Jones’s outfit at the UFC 285 press conference earlier this month was a tribute to him. Lee is back after leaving the UFC to try something new. The company re-signed him earlier this year, and they expect him to compete at some point in 2023.

At UFC 285, Jon Jones came back and finished Ciryl Gane in just two minutes. Jon showed that he is one of the best fighters of all time, and the fight was over before it really started.

Lee and Jones talked to each other a few times back in the day. One of these times was at a press conference in 2017 where Lee wore the black and white shirt you can see in the picture.

At the press conference for UFC 285, “Bones” wore a similar outfit. The lightweight challenger thought that he was doing it to show respect for him.

Speaking with the Schmo in a recent interview, Lee stated:

“It’s hard to deny it at this point. Me and Jon ain’t never really got along too well, but I see he wore what I wore to the press conference that was nice. That was a nice little shout-out from the G.O.A.T. So; I’m going with Jon. Yeah, pound for pound, he’s the best…He was at that, so he kind of liked it. I liked it too, that was nice. He gave some homage, paying homage. I respect it.”
