Max Holloway put on a masterful boxing display earlier this month
UFC featherweight fighter Max Holloway went up against Calvin Kattar on January 16th at Fight Island 7.
In a long and gory fight, the two fighters gave it their all before the judges scored 50-43, 50-43, 50-42 in favour of Holloway.
In between the fight, however, there was a moment which got MMA fans around the world out of their chair.
Blessed channelled his inner Muhammad Ali in Round 5. He kept the incredible pace that he had for the previous 4 rounds, and then shouted at the UFC commentary that he is the best boxer in UFC.
With his eyes still away from his 32-year-old opponent, he threw a no-look punch that connected cleanly. Following that, he dodged 6 straight punches from Kattar without looking even remotely uncomfortable.
This was his first win after his back-to-back losses against Alexander Volkanovski, and it was good enough to win him one legendary fan.
Max Holloway wins over Khabib Nurmagomedov with his ridiculous boxing spell
Khabib Nurmagomedov was watching the fight and he later stated that he was a fan of what Blessed was doing inside the ring.
The Russian has done some talking of his own inside and outside the cage, and he stated that he loved how Holloway can manage to chat so nonchalantly between such intense fights.
“I love this. Fighting and at the same time, talking with the opponent. Talking with the corner, talking with Dana, this is an amazing feeling.”
Holloway would undoubtedly be pumped to hear such words from one of the greatest the sport has ever seen. Khabib is 29-0-0 in professional MMA and retired in October last year.
However, he is touted to make a return this year if results at UFC 257 catch the eye of the UFC lightweight champion.
