UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov named the best in the boxing world right now
Khabib Nurmagomedov is arguably the greatest fighter to step inside the Octagon. The Russian retired from the sport of MMA in October last year, after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.
He left behind a legacy that is almost unassailable. Following his retirement, he became an MMA promoter, MMA coach and whatnot.
‘The Eagle’ recently caught up with boxing legend Mike Tyson for an episode of ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’. In the sets of Tyson’s studio, ES News, interviewed Khabib and Henry Cejudo.
Khabib was asked who he thought the best boxer in the world was. The Dagestani felt that undefeated heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury is the best in the according to him. But, he did acknowledge the greatness of Canelo Alvarez, Oleksandr Usyk and Terence Crawford.
He said:
“Right now… I truly believe Tyson Fury is the best. Heavyweight and undefeated and he beat everybody. Like very close, very close like Canelo [Alvarez], Usyk [Oleksandr], Crawford [Terence], like all these guys very close. Like just my opinion like top like Tyson Fury right now. But, right now I believe like Tyson Fury is the best.”
Tyson Fury takes on Deontay Wilder on the 9th of October
Tyson Fury will take on Deontay Wilder in a trilogy bout on the 9th of October. The pair were set to clash on the 24th of July, 2021, but an outbreak of COVID-19 in Fury’s camp led to the fight being postponed.
Both Fury and Wilder haven’t fought since their second meeting in February 2020. Fury beat Wilder that night, which handed ‘The Bronze Bomber’ his first-ever defeat in his boxing career.
Fury is currently 1-0 up in the rivalry, with 1 draw (during their first meeting).
