UFC lightweight GOAT Khabib Nurmagomedov has given his prediction for Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier
Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3 is hardly 10 days away. The pair will fight it out in the main event of UFC 264 to settle their rivalry. The event is set to take place on the 10th of July in Las Vegas.
The scoreline in the rivalry currently reads 1-1. It was McGregor who gained the upper hand after he beat Poirier at UFC 178 back in September 2014, via knockout in the very first round.
Almost 7 years later at UFC 257 (January 2021), Poirier exacted revenge handing McGregor the first-ever knockout loss in his MMA career.
It has finally boiled down to a trilogy fight, with the winner getting to fight Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title.
The fight will also give the opportunity to both the fighters to settle the scores in the rivalry and etch their names in greatness and history.
Khabib Nurmagomedov might have been an on-court as well as an off-court rival of Conor McGregor. However, when asked for the prediction of the upcoming trilogy fight between McGregor and Poirier, ‘The Eagle’ gave his honest opinion without any bias.
In a recent interview, the Dagestani explained that Poirier would win only if he gets past the ‘First-round McGregor’.
He was quoted as saying (Translated from Russian):
“Like I said before, I think if it goes past the 1st round…Well, I think Conor takes the 1st round, if it goes past the 1st, it’s Poirier’s.”
It was good to hear Khabib being completely unbiased towards a man whom he holds an immense bad blood with.
