All eyes will be on Islam Makhachev when he takes on Thiago Moises in a couple of days. The Dagestani will be headlining a UFC event for the first time in his career.

The number 9 ranked lightweight has been getting the attention he deserves, only recently. He has been on an absolute tear, with 7 wins on the trot and undefeated since 2015.

However, he will be wary of his opponent Moises, who has never been finished in his 19-fight career.

Ahead of the fight, his coach Khabib Nurmagomedov detailed the process of Makhachev going through the weight cut. ‘The Eagle’ can be seen explaining the required routine which is key to a successful weight cut.

In a video posted by Khabib himself on Instagram, he can be seen explaining:

“Now, Islam finish bike for 15 minutes, 15-minute run, a 5-minute walk and three rounds work with bags…And now we put a towel on him and he’s gonna lay down like 20 minutes with towel, making his body sweat…For one training like this, you’re gonna cut like 5 pounds…And I think tomorrow will be the same.”

Islam Makhachev and Thiago Moises make weight successfully

With the fight just a day away, the weigh-ins just concluded. Both Islam Makhachev and Thiago Moises weighed in successfully.

Both the fighters were the first two to the scale. While Makhachev weighed in at 155.5 lbs, Moises came in half-pound heavier. He weighed in at 156 lbs.
