Khabib Nurmagomedov lost his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov last year to the dreadful coronavirus
It has been exactly a year since Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away. The great man lost his battle to the coronavirus on the 3rd of July in 2020.
His death shattered Khabib and his family to pieces, which eventually led him to retire following his win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, later that year in October 2020.
After beating Gaethje, Khabib hung up his gloves and revealed at the post-fight interview that he wouldn’t be able to compete without his late father by the ringside.
‘The Russian’ also stated that he had promised his mother that the Gaethje fight would be his last.
Five months later he made his retirement official, on the 18th of March, 2021.
Khabib Nurmagomedov remembered his father on his first year death anniversary. ‘The Eagle of Dagestan’ took to Instagram to share a video of his father feeding fodder to a team of horses.
He then posted a deep, heartfelt tribute. He revealed that his father’s death made him realize that all things on Earth were temporary, before going to stress upon the importance of God in one’s life.
Khabib’s post read: (Translated from Russian)
“Today is already a year since the Father is not with us. This event increased my conviction that nothing in this world belongs to us, neither our children, nor our parents, nor our property. All we have is temporary. Everything belongs to Allah alone and to Him will be our return, tie your hearts to Allah, stay more alone with Him, because the time will come and we will all be put in a grave, where we will be alone, where our friends, relatives, property and our connections will not be , only our deeds and report.”
Khabib’s father Abdulmanap was a man of principles. He was a well-established trainer and coach as well, who always accompanied Khabib to all his fights.
