Khabib Nurmagomedov neglects Conor McGregor’s request during Instagram live session

Russian star Khabib Nurmagomedov came on Instagram and decided not to spar with Conor McGregor

UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was live on Instagram but avoided a meeting with Conor McGregor.

The Russian is in his homeland and cancelled the UFC 249 main event against Tony Ferguson. That match was set to be held on 18 April, however, Khabib cannot leave the country.

Russia is in a lockdown at the moment, and travel to and from the country isn’t allowed. Khabib was in the US prior to this but flew just a couple of weeks back.

Suffice to say, there has been a lot of talk on who could replace the Russian at UFC 249. McGregor has been named as one of the possible opponents for Ferguson, and he decided to play some games with the champion.

Khabib’s live Instagram session was conducted in a dark setting. The Russian was speaking in his native language with a lot of fans posting comments.

However, McGregor also got into the act and posted a comment and wanted to join the session.

Khabib, for his part, might have missed the comment or decided not to respond at all. McGregor has a history with the Russian after their UFC 229 bout.

What happens at UFC 249?

That is the major question on everyone’s minds. Ferguson came out and suggested that he still wants to fight.

However, finding an opponent for him on such short notice won’t be easy. McGregor has never faced Ferguson while Justin Gaethje is also being spoken off regarding the UFC 249 event.

Dana White hasn’t confirmed where UFC 249 would take place also, and it will be interesting to see what happens next.

The clash is in just a couple of weeks, and not having Khabib is a huge blow. Khabib vs Ferguson has been set up five times altogether and it seems it will be cancelled for the fifth time too.
