Gregor Gillespie picked up an impressive win over Carlos Diego Ferreira and The Fisherman has a ton of opponents wanting a crack at him
UFC Lightweight star Gregor Gillespie returned to the Octagon after nearly two years and he made a statement.
The 34-year-old, who is called The Fisherman thanks to his fishing activities, took on Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Vegas 26.
This was Gillespie鈥檚 first fight since losing to Kevin Lee, which was also his only loss in his professional career. The 34-year-old put on a clinic against the Brazilian and got the win in the second round thanks to a ton of punches.
Gillespie certainly caught the attention of many Lightweights and it seems everyone wants a piece of the Fisherman.
Khabib Nurmagomedov wants Islam Makhachev to face Gregor Gillespie
While Gillespie was adamant that he was the best fisherman in the UFC and even brought up some other rivals, Khabib Nurmagomedov had one name in mind.
The former Lightweight champion retired a while back but is now doing a lot of coaching. One star that he has been coaching is Islam Makhachev and Khabib wanted his friend to face the Fisherman.
Khabib also called out Dana White to set up a fight between them and this would be quite a battle. Makhachev last beat Drew Dober in March 2021 and is 19-1 in his MMA career. The Russian has been calling out several stars for his next fight and wants a ranked opponent.
Khabib and Makhachev have brought up the fact that no one wants to fight the rising Russian and it is to be seen if Gillespie gets that crack.
It would be quite a fight but as stated, there are several talents looking to take on Gillespie after this impressive win.
