Khabib Nurmagomedov had been jetting between the UAE and Russia over the past year or so
Khabib Nurmagomedov is back in the United States of America after nearly a year and the Russian posted an emotional update regarding the same.
The Russian is still the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, despite retiring from fighting a few months back.
He defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and shocked the world by announcing his retirement right after that.
However, a lot has happened over the past year and Khabib wanted to bring that up in an emotional update.
“For a year I wasn’t here, during this year a lot has changed in my life, there were good moments, there were also hard times.
“But this is life and we keep moving, may ALLAH help us all, because we don’t know what will happen in a year.”
Khabib had been in the UAE for a few months as he set up some business plans. He also met Dana White several times as the UFC president tried to bring the Russian back into the UFC.
A tough year for Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib returning to the United States could lead to several discussions for the division. One has to be about the UFC Lightweight title and Dustin Poirier confirmed that the UFC has to deal with this soon.
Khabib doesn’t seem keen on fighting any more and it will be interesting to see what happens next with the Russian.
The last year for Khabib was extremely tough. Not only did he lose his father, he went on to fight Gaethje in some tough circumstances.
The Russian revealed in an interview that he suffered from the mumps a month before the fight. Not only that, he also broke his thumb before the fight but the loss of his father was a huge moment in his career.
His father, Abdulmanap, always was with the Russian and was a guiding light for Khabib. The Russian always brought up how important it was to support and cherish the moments with your parents, and he took the decision to retire from MMA after making a promise to his mother.
