Khabib Nurmagomedov was coaching his cousin, Abubakar, at UFC 260

Abubakar Nurmagomedov finally got his debut UFC win and it was a great performance at UFC 260. The cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov, there had been a lot said about Abubakar but his UFC debut didn’t go so well.

He lost in his debut to David Zawada but the 31-year-old got a lot of coaching from Khabib. The retired UFC star has become a full-time coach and it seems to be working out well for him.

He helped Islam Makhachev to a dominant win over Drew Dober at UFC 259 and got another win under his belt.

Khabib Nurmagomedov sends a warning for the rest of the division

While Islam Makhachev is the one who is touted to win the UFC Lightweight title in the future and possibly carry the legacy of his friend, Khabib, Abubakar could be a force in the Welterweight division.

The 31-year-old has won several titles in Combat Sambo and Khabib also sent a warning to all those in Abubakar’s division:

“Alhamdulillah another big win for our team. We win together and we lose together, my brothers everything for me

“We proud of you brother @abubakar_nurmagomedov we know you can do even better.”

Khabib also thanked their coach, Javier Mendez, and this Russian team seem set to dominate the UFC.

The Eagle has other cousins and friends fighting in other promotions too with Usman Nurmagomedov also looking to make a name.

Abubakar does have some way to go before he can challenge Kamaru Usman. However, this win will take a lot of pressure off his shoulders.

He has Khabib training him and it will be interesting to see who he fights next.
