Khabib Nurmagomedov has some great plans for Islam Makhachev as he spoke with Megan Olivi
Megan Olivi got the chance to interview Khabib Nurmagomedov after the recent Derek Brunson vs Kevin Holland Fight Night.
Khabib was by the side of the Octagon as he enjoyed the fights alongside Dana White. The Russian retired recently, which was made official, and now there are some big fights planned for his Lightweight division.
Khabib will go down as one of the greatest MMA talents of all-time and Olivi asked what he has planned for the future.
The Eagle confirmed he had some businesses to run and also would be spending a lot of time with his family.
“I have some business projects, am gonna make money. I am going to enjoy my life, I have kids and I have my brothers, they are still fighting and I am going to support them.”
Khabib brought up one of his cousins who will fight in the UFC soon but also Islam Makhachev.
Makhachev and Khabib go way back and the Eagle has touted his friend as a future champion. Khabib believed that Islam had a huge main event coming later in the year and backed his friend to be a title contender soon too:
“Next week, my brother, Abubakar going to fight. July, maybe June-July, Islam will have for his first main event in UFC.
“He’s gonna fight, he has seven win streak and end of the year or beginning of next year, he’s gonna be next contender in the Lightweight division.
“I have my cousin, Umar, he just win one fight in UFC, he is undefeated 13-0.”
Khabib added that he was going to support his relatives and also be in and around the UFC. The Eagle confirmed he didn’t feel like going inside the cage too.
Khabib was the coach for Islam during the win over Drew Dober and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
Makhachev wants a big fight and has called out Rafael dos Anjos and Michael Chandler. However, the Chandler fight won’t happen as the American faces Charles Oliveira for the vacant Lightweight belt.
Makhachev would probably be keeping his eye on that fight, especially with his plans of becoming the champion someday.
