Jorge Masvidal attacked Colby Covington recently in Miami
Khabib Nurmagomedov has come out in defence of Jorge Masvidal after Gamebred allegedly attacked Colby Covington on March 22.
Covington and Masvidal fought at UFC 272 and it was Chaos that came out on top. However, reports suggest that Masvidal attacked his former best friend in Miami recently.
Gamebred had vowed that their rivalry was not over after UFC 272, and well, Masvidal was detained by Miami police and then released on a $15,000 bond.
Nurmagomedov, who has also seen his fair share of violence outside of the Octagon, thanks to Conor McGregor, shed some light on this incident.
The Eagle backed Masvidal’s actions since Covington had insulted Gamebred’s family. Nurmagomedov also wanted other Welterweights to stop fighting Covington, and that could teach Chaos a lesson.
Prior to their fight at UFC 272, Covington made several disparaging remarks on Masvidal’s family and children too.
Gamebred might have lost his UFC 272 fight, but he seems to have caused some damage to Covington. Reports suggest that Covington fractured a tooth and also had an abrasion on a wrist.
Chaos is one of the best in the Welterweight division but his persona is divisive. He has made some horrible comments in recent weeks and a few were also targeted at Dustin Poirier’s family after UFC 272.
Covington seems to revelling in this character that he has created. There is no doubting his ability inside the Octagon. However, the comments he makes certainly gets under the skin of some fighters.
Masvidal might have lost the fight at UFC 272. However, it seems that he has won some fans over with his attack on Covington.
