Khabib Nurmagomedov has only good words to say for rising UFC star Zabit Magomedsharipov
UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov was in the gym with another star earlier this week. Zabit Magomedsharipov has quietly become one of the most lethal fighters in the promotion.
The Russian fighter also hails from Dagestan, just like Nurmagomedov. And just like Khabib, Zabit is also unbeaten in his UFC career.
The Russians were in training together and Khabib posted a picture with Zabit on his social media accounts.
He captioned it “With best Featherweight in the World [Globe emoji] @zabeast_mma“
The photo was posted on both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. ‘The Eagle’, since his retirement, has had a lot of time to coach and connect with other professionals.
He recently linked up fighters such as Belal Muhammad and Horacio Gutierrez in training and offered them advice, on top of coaching his own team.
When will Zabit Magomedsharipov fight next?
Zabit has not fought in the UFC for a while. His last fight came against Calvin Kattar at UFC Fight Night 163 in November 2019.
Since then, he was scheduled to take on Yair Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 175 but the latter pulled out with an ankle injury.
Magomedsharipov has won all 6 of his UFC fights since his debut in September 2017. But he has now been out of action for more than a year.
However, Dana White recently stated in January 2021 that Zabit will fight soon as he spoke to ESPN MMA.
Yeah, we’re looking at [Zabit Magomedsharipov] in the next three months. Get him something. I don’t know [about Rodriguez]. We might move on from that one.”
Zabit is the #3 ranked featherweight in the promotion and a win in his next fight, against whoever it may be, could see him get closer to a shot at Alexander Volkanovski.
