Here is what Khabib had to say: (Translated from Russian)

“We have been training together for a long time, and we have always been in the role of sparing partners, but this is how it happened last year, I quietly moved into the role of a coach, although we continue to train and fight constantly with each other.”

While Khabib did not reveal exactly what injury it was, he did say that he and his team persuaded Tukhugov to fight at a later date.

However, Tukhugov, true to his nickname, was up for it, and got the win.
