Khamzat Chimaev is undefeated in his MMA career
Khamzat Chimaev is on the hunt for UFC gold and called out two champions. The Swede is undefeated in his MMA career and is coming from a war against Gilbert Burns.
This was the first time that Chimaev did not finish an opponent in his career. Burns took Chimaev to the limit and it was a close bout, even though the Swede won the fight via unanimous decision.
Chimaev is now ranked #3 in the Welterweight division and called out the champion, Kamaru Usman. However, Chimaev also called out the UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya on social media.
Chimaev has placed himself well for a title shot in the future. However, it is to be seen if he gets that in his next fight or not.
Will Khamzat Chimaev get a title shot next?
The Swede has been one of the most impressive UFC stars in recent years and Dana White would be keen to capitalise on Borz’s popularity.
Giving him a title shot next against Usman could get a lot of eyeballs. However, Usman is to fight Leon Edwards next.
Usman is undefeated in his MMA career and has been incredible in his title run. The Welterweight Champion has defeated Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington twice, and is ranked the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the promotion
Adesanya could be a step too far for Chimaev. He would have to change weight classes and well, he isn’t ranked in the division either.
Adesanya only has one loss in his MMA career and that came when he fought Jan Blachowicz for the Light Heavyweight title.
Chimaev certainly is an interesting fighter, and it is to be seen what the UFC decides is best for him.
