Khamzat Chimaev defeated Gilbert Burns at UFC 273

UFC 273 had a couple of huge title fights but many fans wanted to see how Khamzat Chimaev would do in his latest outing.

The undefeated MMA star had wowed almost every UFC fan with his performances in the organisation. Chimaev was 10-0 before his UFC 273 outing and had won his last three UFC outings in the first round itself.

The Swede, however, had a tough challenger in former title contender Gilbert Burns. The fight went the entire distance but Chimaev did just about enough to get the win.

This was an important performance from Borz. Not only did he prove that he could take on the best in the division, but it also showed that he can last an entire fight distance.

Chimaev might have been rocked by a few of Burns’ punches, but he certainly landed a few of his own as well.

The win was also important in Chimaev’s move up as the latest UFC rankings have put him to #3 in the Welterweight division.

This is an eight-spot jump for Borz and only Leon Edwards, Colby Covington and Champion Kamaru Usman are above him.

What is next for Khamzat Chimaev?

Obviously, the Swede would be keen on a title shot, but Usman will not be his next fight. The Champion is slated to face Edwards next, and Usman should be the favourite heading into that bout.

The Nigerian Nightmare is undefeated in his UFC career and has defeated the likes of Jorge Masvidal and Covington twice.

Chimaev might also have to take on Covington as Chaos was the last fight for Usman. Either way, Chimaev has proved he is worth the hype, and his next fight will gather a lot of eyeballs.

The Swede is 11-0 currently, and he just might be the kryptonite for Usman.
