Khamzat Chimaev struggled to make weight at the recently concluded UFC 267 weigh in

Khamzat Chimaev is making his return to the Octagon after more than 13 months of inaction.

‘The Borz’ who had a scintillating run during mid 2020 was making big moves before COVID got the better of him.

Chimaev was scheduled to face Leon Edwards a number of times, but the fight never came to fruition.

During the first half of 2021, Chimaev’s struggle with coronavirus almost pushed him towards retirement.

In fact, he did announce his retirement, only to later somehow talk himself out of it.

Now that he has fully recovered, Chimaev will take on Li Jingliang in the main card of UFC 267.

The weigh in for the stacked event just concluded, and Chimaev had a tough time with his weight cut.

Controversy while Khamzat Chimaev weighs in the second time

During his second weigh in, Khamzat Chimaev appeared to hold the towel in order to manipulate the weight.

It led to a five pound fluctuation but was picked up by the cameras. The attempt was scrapped and he was made it to weigh in another time, and that was when he hit the scales at 171 lbs. Here is the video of the same:

Now that he has made weight, Chimaev will be hoping to see off Jingliang and climbing up the welterweight ladder.
