Khamzat Chimaev made big moves in the latest UFC rankings update
Khamzat Chimaev produced a stunning performance against Li Jingliang at UFC 267. It was a total mauling.
‘The Borz’ wasted no time once the bell sounded; slammed Jingliang as though he were a piece of cake, and got the job done with a rear-naked choke.
A majority of the MMA world was in awe with how he dealt with a ranked opponent like Jingliang.
Following his win over the Chinese, Chimaev broke into the top 10 of the welterweight rankings.
He had entered the rankings last year, peaking at number 15, but fell off after he contracted the coronavirus.
There was some change in the lightweight rankings as well. Islam Makhachev gained one place and moved to number 4. He displaced Michael Chandler.
Following his defeat to Makhachev, Dan Hooker dropped to places to number 8.
Jon Jones plunges to number 6 in the pound-for-pound rankings
Only a month and a half ago, Kamaru Usman took Jon Jones’ place as the number one pound-for-pound fighter.
A fortnight or so later, Jones dropped two places to number 4.
Now, Jones has further plunged two more spots. He now sits at number 6. The UFC light-heavyweight GOAT is expected to make a return to the Octagon next year. He will be making his UFC heavyweight debut.
