Khamzat Chimaev is back in the UFC and wants a piece of Jorge Masvidal in his next fight

Undefeated UFC star Khamzat Chimaev seems to be back to his best after his battle with Covid-19.

Chimaev was the breakout star in the UFC last year as he won all of his fights. The Swedish star also was dominant in each of his UFC fights and was expected to fight Leon Edwards in his next outing.

This was to be his 10th fight and the fourth in the UFC. However, that didn’t take place after suffering some complications due to Covid.

He even posted a note about retiring from the sport but Dana White clarified that this was just an emotional post.

Chimaev is back and now seems keen on making up for lost time. He wants a big name next and with Edwards moving on, he might have picked the best in the Welterweight division, well, in terms of popularity.

Jorge Masvidal was in action at UFC 261 and was knocked out by the champion, Kamaru Usman. This was a rematch from UFC 251 but many expected something great from Masvidal.

Gamebred had a full camp to prepare for this but was destroyed by the champion thanks to a vicious KO. Chimaev alluded to that KO and claimed that he wanted to fight Masvidal, who might have still been sleeping after the KO:

“Tell gamebred when he wake up from Saturday night I will fight him in August I’m not sure if he still sleeping.”

Jorge Masvidal vs Khamzat Chimaev would be amazing

Chimaev also tagged Dana White in his next tweet and wants the UFC president to set this up in August:

This would be quite a fight but there are some hurdles in the way. Masvidal has been linked with a fight against Nick Diaz after White confirmed he was back in action for the UFC.

Further, Chimaev needs to take it steady and not make call outs which are unlikely to happen. There are others in the Welterweight division that could face Chimaev.

The Swede is 9-0 in his career so far, and it will be interesting to see who White sets him up with.
