Leon Edwards shares his prediction for Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259
One of the most awaited title fights in recent memory is now just under a month away. UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is looking to become a double champ at UFC 259.
Standing in his way is the current UFC light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz. The two are highly mismatched when it comes to their fighting.
Blachowicz relies more on his knockout power, while ‘The Last Stylebender’ is incredibly fast and agile. This has made this fight tough to predict.
That, though, hasn’t stopped fellow UFC fighters from giving their prediction. And the latest to have his say on it is Leon Edwards.
Speaking on Submission Radio on YouTube this week, the UFC welterweight fighter predicted that the fight would be quite similar to the Nigerian’s win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253.
“I’m going to pick Israel. He is a good lad. I think it will probably play out the same way Costa played out probably. I’ll probably go Israel.”
Prediction for Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz is tough due to their mismatch
‘Izzy’ is yet to lose a fight in his professional career. He had been planning a step up to the light heavyweight division, and was smart to cash in when the Pole got his hands on the belt at UFC 253.
A fight for Adesanya against Jon Jones, who held the belt earlier, would have probably been more exciting. The two are not too different in their fighting styles.
But it is probably his mismatch with Blachowicz that makes their title bout all the more interesting. It is power against speed, and no one can tell for sure what trumps what once the bell rings.
This will be Blachowicz’s first defence of his title. However, a man who has just been finished just once in the past 10 years should not be taken lightly.
