Top-ranked welterweight Leon Edwards ripped into Jorge Masvidal after Gamebred suffered a devastating KO loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 261.
Jorge Masvidal was knocked out for the first time in his long UFC career. A blistering Kamaru Usman’s straight right hand caused the hard-as-nails Gamebred to lay motionless.
Barring a controversial TKO loss to Rodrigo Damm way back in 2008, Masvidal had hardly been rocked in his fights, thanks to his granite chin. But UFC 261 had different plans, as another fighter was removed from the list of fighters to have never been finished.
Despite coming off a full training camp, Masvidal put on a poorer showing than he did, when he faced Usman the last time at UFC 251.
As for Usman, he notched up his 14th consecutive win in the UFC, inching closer to Anderson Silva’s all-time record of 16 consecutive wins in the UFC.
Elsewhere, number 3 ranked welterweight Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards took a dig at Masvidal for his loss at. The Brit claimed that he has been calling Gamebred s*** for quite a while. Edwards further asked the fans if they at least believed him now.
Rocky also branded Masvidal a ‘fake BMF’.
Edwards is set to take on the returning Nate Diaz on the 15th of May, at UFC 262. This will be Diaz’s first fight since his BMF title fight against Masvidal at UFC 244.
Edwards is coming off a controversial no-contest against Belal Muhammad. The British star will be looking forward to grabbing this opportunity with both hands, as a win might put him next in line for a title shot.
With Covington vs Usman rematch looming, Edwards might also get to call The Chaos out if he manages to beat the ‘Stockton Slugger’.
It is worthy to mention that Leon Edwards is on an unbelievable eight-match win streak. Further, he has never ever lost a fight via. knockout or submission.
