Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards at UC 269 is off due to an injury sustained by Gamebred

One of the most anticipated clashes in UFC history is off due to an undisclosed injury.

Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards had a lot of people talking ahead of next month’s UFC 269. However, news broke out today that Gamebred pulled out of the clash due to an undisclosed injury.

No further details were provided regarding the same, but Masvidal is not someone who pulls out of clashes just for the sake of it.

This was going to Masvidal’s first match since his crazy loss to the champion, Kamaru Usman. That took place at UFC 261 and all but ended any hopes Masvidal had of winning the title for now.

However, this was going to be Edwards’ time to shine. Rocky is undefeated in his last 10 fights and believed another win could get him closer to Usman.

Leon Edwards waiting for Kamaru Usman

Edwards posted a message on Twitter regarding Masvidal’s injury. The British star claimed he was disappointed with the decision and believed that Masvidal didn’t want to fight him too.

Further, Edwards called out Usman and said he would be waiting for the Nigerian Nightmare.

“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway. He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg i will see you soon.”

Usman too, for his part, spoke about taking some time off to be with his daughter and family. The Welterweight champion is coming off another successful title defence where he defeated Colby Covington.

Usman is yet to lose in the UFC and it will be interesting to see when he fights next. He has dominated the UFC Welterweight division and has beaten Covington and Masvidal each twice.
