UFC Lightweight Luis Pena brings up ‘The Undertaker’ reference after Lupita Godinez slams Jessica Penne.
Lupita Godinez made an impressive UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs Gastelum, but was unable to get the W as she went down fighting to Jessica Penne, ultimately losing via. split decision.
Godinez had taken the fight on short notice but did not disappoint, while also getting the whole world talking when she executed a massive powerbomb on Penne in the final round.
The clip went viral pretty quickly, and UFC Lightweight Luis Pena took to Twitter to compare Godinez’s slam with WWE Legend The Undertaker’s Last Ride.
Here is what Pena had to say about Loopy’s slam:
Godinez would be disappointed that the fight did not go her away despite coming into the fight as a clear favourite. As, for Penne, she would be glad that she entered the octagon, let alone won the fight since she had not fought in almost 4 years after a failed drug test.
Prior to the fight Godinez had revealed that she was honored to be fighting an opponent as great as Jessica Penne, while acknowledging the veteran’s legion of experience.
Speaking to MMA Fighting, Godinez said:
“Yeah, of course, I couldn’t have asked for a better opponent. The truth is that I’m really happy for this matchup and that’s it. I’m excited to be sharing the cage with a veteran like her who’s been fighting for many years.” [via MMA Fighting]
It is worthy to note that Godinez who had a below average amateur career (3-4-1), turned the tide going into her professional MMA career. She now has 5 wins and just one loss.
