Luke Rockhold is out of his UFC 268 bout against Sean Strickland after suffering an injury
It has just been reported that Luke Rockhold who was set to mark his UFC return at the UFC 268 event has suffered an injury and won’t be fighting come November 6th. It is revealed that he has suffered a herniated disc in his back that has forced him to pull out of this fight.
As the injury was reported, speculations of Rockhold getting surgery also emerged and thankfully no surgery is needed. If Rockhold were to get a surgery then it would’ve been very unlikely to see him return to the octagon soon. Ariel Helwani reported:
“Rockhold tells me no surgery needed, thankfully. Epidural and 6 weeks of PT.”
This was set to be his first match since 2019, but guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the former Middleweight champion return to the octagon. His most recent match was against the current light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in 2019 where he also suffered a knockout defeat.
Will Sean Strickland still fight at UFC 268?
UFC are currently working to get a replacement to take place of the injured Rockhold. Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet the company will surely find another opponent for Strickland.
The card is stacked from tom to bottom including the welterweight championship bout between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Justin Gaethje will also make his first UFC appearance since last year against Michael Chandler. The UFC 268 will take place on November 6th at the Madison Square Garden, New York.
