Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao was on the verge of taking place in mid-2020

Conor McGregor announced his retirement from MMA for the third time in June 2020. The Irishman who has come back from his third retirement since then has gone on to fight twice (against Dustin Poirier) and lost both.

During his third-retirement phase in 2020, McGregor was hinting at a (boxing) fight with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in the middle-east.

In fact, the talk of a pro-boxing fight with Pacquiao is still on the cards, although a recent fallout between Audie Attar and Pacquiao might have put the plans on hold.

In a recent interview with the Schmo, ‘The PacMan’ didn’t seem much interested in a fight with McGregor.

Pacquiao stated that he wanted a fight that would make the fans happy which would be possible only if he fought a professional boxer.

He was quoted as saying:

“For me, money will follow. But, my concern is the fans- how to make the fans happy in every fight. I don’t pick a non-boxer opponent, I want to pick the best…So that we can claim that we are the best.”
