Marvin Vettori has expressed his desire to fight Paulo Costa

Marvin Vettori’s quest to become the first UFC champion from Italy failed as Israel Adesanya put in a measured and slick performance to see off the Italian Dream.

Adesanya emerged as the clear winner of the fight, scoring 50-45 on all three judges scorecard.

Following his loss to Adesanya, Vettori addressed what plans he had next, in the middleweight division.

In an interview with Caroline Pearce of BT Sport, Vettori was asked if he would like to face Darren Till soon, since they were supposed to fight in April, before Till pulled out.

However, Marvin Vettori had just one opponent in mind – Paulo Costa. Addressing him as the “drunk guy”, Vettori claimed that he was ready to go all in against the Brazilian.

Vettori was quoted saying:

“I like to really destroy this drunk guy that can’t even stay of drinking, and it’s Borrachinha [Paulo Costa]. Either way, I’m as game as it comes, I always show up. There is no one fight, I didn’t show up. You can count on me, when there is a fight, there is a date, I’ll show up.”

Marvin Vettori says he would “like to smack” Paulo Costa

Upon being further asked by Pearce as to why he had such violent intentions for Paulo Costa, Vettori revealed that:

“I feel like he is little bit – he is not straight [in his mind] too much…I don’t know what he is about, but if he can make it to a fight, I’ll definitely like to smack this guy, you know.”

Costa recently pulled out of a fight against Jared Cannonier citing payment as the issue.
